Anti-rodent Campaign 2024

Prevent Disease    Eliminate Rodent Nuisance

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department is organising an Anti-rodent Campaign 2026 in collaboration with other Government Departments under the theme 'Prevent Disease    Eliminate Rodent Nuisance'.  The Campaign is implemented in two phases.  The first phase was conducted from 5 January 2026 to 13 March 2026.  The second phase will be conducted from 6 July 2026 to 11 September 2026.  The target biotopes will cover –

  1. markets / municipal services buildings;
  2. hawker bazaars;
  3. typhoon shelters; and
  4. rear lanes.

In addition, rodent problematic spots identified by district pest control staff of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will also be attended to.

Main Objectives of Second Phase

      Monday, Thursday and Public Holiday – Closed
      Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.

  1. Rodent Prevention and Control Seminar (Free Admission)

    Two seminars on rodent prevention and control for market tenants, market and food premises management and other interested parties are organized as follows:

    The contents of the two seminars will be the same and include biology of rodents and rodent proofing measures.  The seminars will be conducted in Cantonese.  Seats will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.  Each participant will receive a souvenir at the seminars.

  2. A variety of educational leaflets and posters is distributed to the District Environmental Hygiene Offices of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and other Government Departments such as Home Affairs Department, Housing Department, Department of Health, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Social Welfare Department as well as market management companies for display and/or distribution.

District anti-rodent operations

  1. Our Department will launch a series of rodent disinfestation operations in districts in collaboration with other Government Departments; and
  2. During the campaign period, staff of our Department will follow the working programme to conduct anti-rodent operations at the problematic spots and to give technical advice to the public on prevention and control of rodents.
