To All Licensees/Persons-in-charge of food premises :

On 17 March 2021, the Secretary for Food and Health stipulated a requirement on air change or air purifiers to be complied with in dine-in catering premises in the directions in relation to the catering business under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) (the Regulation). Under the directions, licensees of licensed catering premises must, on or before 30 April 2021, register on the webpage of this Department and upload a certificate in specified form issued by a registered specialist contractor (ventilation works category) providing the information of the ACH or particulars of the air purifier(s) meeting the specified specifications installed in the seating area of the catering premises. Licensees unable to complete the registration on or before 30 April 2021 must submit an application to this Department for an extension of time for registration.  Once the application has been approved, the licensees must complete the registration within the time limit as specified by this Department.

According to our record, the above catering premises have submitted application for an extension of time for registration and was approved.

You are hereby reminded to complete the registration within the deadline specified by this Department.  If you are actively taking steps but encounter practical difficulties to complete the registration within the deadline, please provide information and further documentary proof before the deadline specified by this Department.  We may consider taking appropriate action in light of the actual situation.

This department urges operators of catering premises to strive to implement the requirement as soon as possible, so as to protect the health of staff, customers and the public and to fortify the public's confidence in patronising catering premises.
