General Clerk (Salary: HK$14,885 per month)

Entry Requirements:  Candidates should have: 

  1. Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 1), or equivalent; OR

    Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;

  2. Chinese word processing speed of 15 words per minute and English word processing speed of 20 words per minute and knowledge in the application of common business software (Note 3); and

  3. relevant full-time working experience is preferred.

Notes

  1. For appointment purpose, "Attained" in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Languages subjects in the HKDSEE before 2025 or specific grades / levels in Other Languages subjects in the 2025 HKDSEE and henceforth are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.

  2. For appointment purpose, "Grade E" in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to "Level 2" in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

  3. Candidates will be required to sit for the word processing speed test and the test on the application of common business software of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Duties: To perform general clerical duties such as general office support, personnel, finance and accounts, statistical duties and other departmental support.

    Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of not more than 12 months.  Renewal of contract may be offered at the absolute discretion of the Department, subject to operational need of the Department and satisfactory performance and conduct of the staff.

    Fringe Benefits: Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave or paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57).  Non-Sunday General Holidays (or alterative holidays) will also be granted.

    3. Applications which are incomplete, or late, or submitted in person / by post / by fax / by e-mail will NOT be considered.
    4. For purposes of contact and notification, applicants are required to state e-mail addresses in the "G.F. 340 On-line Application System".
    5. Candidates who are selected for selection interview and skills test will normally receive an invitation by e-mail in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application.  As it takes time to process all applications, an invitation to the selection interview and skills test does not imply that an applicant has met the entry requirements of the post.   Those who are not invited for selection interview and skills test may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

    General Notes:

Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.  They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates to the above designated email address in strict accordance with the stipulated timeframe (i.e. on or before 17 August 2026).
