The epidemic situation in Hong Kong has become severe again since the second half of November 2020.  The Government decided, among other things, to further tighten the social distancing measures applicable to catering businesses providing dine-in services, by way of directions issued by the Secretary for Food and Health under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F).  In particular, bars/pubs and nightclubs were required to close their premises from 26 November 2020 and Karaoke Establishments (KEs) from 2 December 2020 until at least 28 April 2021.  There is a case to provide further subsidy to them in view of the prolonged and extended periods of closure of their premises.  In this regard, a further one-off single subsidy for bars/pubs, nightclubs and KEs under fourth round anti-epidemic fund is launched.
