In response to the Hong Kong Observatory's announcement that Super Typhoon Ragasa is gradually approaching Hong Kong and that the Gale or Strom Signal, No. 8 will be issued tomorrow (September 23) afternoon.  The weather will be persistently adverse on Wednesday (September 24). The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) hereby announces the following arrangements for cremation services to assist the public in making advance arrangements for funeral matters:

  1. Continuation of Cremation Services
During the issuing of the No. 8 or higher Signal, all FEHD crematoriums will maintain normal cremation services to ensure that members of the public can proceed with scheduled cremations for the deceased despite extreme weather conditions.

  2. Cancellation or Rescheduling Arrangements
In view of possible special circumstances or considerations, members of the public who wish to cancel their pre-booked cremation slots on September 24 (Wednesday) may proceed to our Cremation Booking Office at from today onwards. This Department will assist in arranging a refund or rebooking for another cremation session.

  3. Safety Advice
When traveling to crematoriums, members of the public must pay attention to safety, closely monitor the latest weather updates from the Hong Kong Observatory, and stay informed about transportation arrangements. It is advisable to allow sufficient time for travel and follow instructions from on-site staff.

  4. Enquiries
For any questions, please contact the Cheung Sha Wan Cremation Booking Office (2150 7505) during office hours. Latest information can also be accessed on the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk).

The department understands the difficulties of arranging funerals during extreme weather. We urge everyone to prioritize personal safety above all else. This department is committed to providing all necessary support to assist in the proper handling of related matters.
