In
view of the recent outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), licensees
of food premises and non-food premises as well as food permittees should take
precautionary measures. The measures include stepping up the cleaning and inspection
of all the ventilation systems in the premises, pay more attention to food safety
and the health condition of staff. If staff has developed respiratory symptoms,
they should be strongly advised to seek medical consultation immediately. To safeguard
public health, non-food premises should regularly clean and disinfect all the
facilities and equipment therein such as ball pools and amusement rides.
Staff
of these premises should maintain good personal hygiene habits, wash their hands
frequently, cover the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing to prevent droplet
spread. They should consult the doctor promptly once when not feeling well.¡@
The
Department of Heath has issued health advice on the prevention of respiratory
tract infections. The advice is applicable to food premises and non-food premises.
FEHD has also formulated guidelines to licensees of food premises and non-food
premises as well as food permittees on how to safeguard the health of their staff
