Food and Environmental Hygiene Department?
Every
day, about 5 300 tonnes of household waste is collected
including 1 060 tonnes from Hong Kong Island, 1 630
tonnes from Kowloon and 2 610 tonnes from New Territories
and on outlying islands.

When is the refuse collection service suspended?
Daily collection of household waste is carried out year round, including Lunar New Year's Day and other public holidays.

Where is the household waste disposed?
The
refuse collected from refuse collection
points is delivered to refuse transfer
stations or landfills managed by the Environmental Protection Department.
