The Department has placed sets of recyclable collection bins in prominent public places and departmental venues such as refuse collection points for separate collection of 3 common recyclable wastes, namely waste paper, metal and plastic materials.

2. Does the Department have any plan to expand the current waste reduction activities?

The Department will continue to support the “Policy Framework for the Management of Municipal Solid Waste (2005-2014)” promulgated by the Environmental Protection Department in 2005 and explore more locations including public places, refuse collection points and public markets suitable for placing recyclable collection bins for collection of waste paper, metal and plastic materials.
