Departmental
Policy and Practices in relation to Personal Data
The
departmental policy is:
"In
compliance with the requirements of the Personal Data
(Privacy) Ordinance, to set procedures and to ensure good
practices within the Department on the acquisition, collection,
recording, storage, disclosure, correction, erasure and
communication of personal data kept by the Department
on its employees and members of the public."
For
this purpose the Department has appointed Personal Data
Controlling Officers to be
responsible for assessing, authorizing, monitoring and reviewing
data protection measures in the Department. In addition,
a Departmental Personal Data Controlling Officer is appointed
for the overall promotion and co-ordination of actions to
be made in meeting the requirements of the Personal Data
(Privacy) Ordinance.

How
to obtain personal data under Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance
Holding
requests and requests for access/correction of personal
data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance
may be made by electronic means, letter or standard request
form. The request should be addressed to personal_data@fehd.gov.hk
or one of the Personal Data Controlling Officers. Release
of any personal data is subject to the provisions of the
Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
A
charge may be made for data access request, to reflect the
costs of making available duplicate copy (or copies) of
the data concerned. Requestors will be advised in advance
of the charge to be levied.
